The Assistive Technology Service is a consultative service supporting clinicians and rehabilitation professionals in the public health system who work with adolescents and adults with disabilities. We maintain an extensive and modern inventory of assistive technology to address a variety of needs for people with disabilities.
Our skilled staff include: two Occupational Therapists, two Speech-Language-Pathologists, two Assistive Technology Consultants, an Assistive Technology Practitioner, and an Instructor.
We operate the Technical Aids Lab at G.F. Strong Rehab Centre, and the Technology Independence Centre at George Pearson Centre, and work with a wide range of community partners.
How To Obtain Services
Access to Services (consultations and equipment loans) is through clinicians and rehabilitation professionals only.
A person with a disability, a family member, or friend may call or contact us for general information. To try equipment, please have a rehabilitation professional contact us.
Assistive technology changes at a rapid pace; our skilled staff provide clinicians with current information and guidance in the appropriate use of assistive technology. A clinician or rehabilitation professional may call the Assistive Technology and Seating Service and arrange a consultation appointment or to initiate an online Community Consultation:

Equipment Loans
The Assistive Technology Service provides equipment for short term assessments to clinicians working in the public health system. Organizations borrowing equipment are responsible for all shipping charges. For private practice clinicians, equipment may be rented for short periods of time. Rental costs vary depending on the item. All loans begin with a consultation.
